Week 1 highlights

12/29/13 Amara Grace is 10 days old. We had a great week with her. She is eating well, sleeping well, and is a pro snuggler. There were a lot of firsts this week -- first pediatrician appointment; first set of hand prints and foot prints made; first sponge bath, first visits from friends. Amara has been smiling, sneezing, hiccuping, and looking at us with her beautiful deep blue eyes. We are so in love with our baby!!!

Amara's first Christmas

December 25, 2013. We are home with Amara Grace, who is just 6 days old. We had a lovely Christmas at home. Grandma Patti cooked a delicious Christmas brunch. We then opened gifts and yes, Amara was given lots of cute girlie clothes. I think she owns as many outfits as her Mommy by now. In addition to Grandma, Uncle Cyrus and Grandpa Hamid spent the day with us. When Amara napped, we opened presents by the tree. Next year Amara will be unwrapping presents herself!

Bonding and Napping

During Amara's first week home she spent a lot of time napping, nursing, and bonding with Daddy and other family members. Grandma Patti, Grandpa Hamid, Uncle Cyrus, and cousins Patti Ann and family all visited. All are instant fans of
Amara Grace!

At the hospital

We stayed two nights at UCSD hospital in Hillcrest. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our doula, Grace Allen, did a wonderful job helping us labor. Brian and his mother, Patti, were also crucial in helping Mommy. Even so we were eager to leave and take baby home!

Sweet child is born!

12/19/13 6:15pm PST Amara Grace Dawidowicz is born! After a quick 10 hour labor Amara Grace entered the world peacefully and was placed on her Mommy's chest. Amara looked in her Mommy's eyes with trust and love. It was an amazing moment for the Dawidowicz family. Soon thereafter Daddy spent some time bonding with Amara. He had tears in his eyes and Amara looked at Daddy with love and gratitude. Daddy "cut the cord" and comforted Amara as she received her first shot and standard infant care (weighing, eye drops, ect). The family spent two nights in the hospital and then happily went home. The pediatricians, nurses, and midwives that looked at Amara all agreed -- she is healthy and beautiful! We could not be more grateful.
