Six and a half months

Summer is here! Amara has been enjoying her first "play dates" with a couple of Moms and babies from a Meet Up group. The weather has been NICE and not too hot. Mom and Amara have been taking long walks at the beach, in the neighborhood and at Balboa Park. Amara continues to get more stable sitting up and she continues to experiment with first foods. She has tried purees of peas, prunes and apple. Fruits seem to be preferred to vegetables.
Amara loves to hold the spoon and feed herself. She even decided to drink milk from her bottle which has not wanted to do in months!

Six months old!

There are so many exciting things to report on. Amara is now over half a year old! We just returned from her 6th month check up and learned that she is in the 80th percentile for height and 30th for weight. She is healthy and doing great! Amara recently began trying solid foods. So far baby oatmeal cereal is her favorite. She also enjoys smashed avocado. Pureed carrot and mashed banana are "maybes". Time to try some more flavors!
Yesterday Amara sat up by herself for full minute. She has learned to support herself with her hand on the ground in front of her. Soon she will not need that support and sit up like a big girl. It was a bittersweet moment for Mom.
Amara loves to make music on her "piano" (great toy from Grandma) and she loves to play peek a boo. Soon we will start swim lessons!!

Five and a half months

I can't believe Amara is five and a half months old already! She looks older by the day and continues to delight us. Last week Boppa Bob and Janny came to visit. We had a lot of fun with them. We spent some time in Del Mar enjoying the ocean view and eating at Jake's. Amara loves to go out to eat with us. Even though she is not enjoying the food, she loves to people watch! Amara also loves reading books and taking walks. She recently visited her friend, Colton, who was born on her due date. They almost look like twins!

Weeks 20 and 21

Carol celebrated her first Mother's day! It was a wonderful day Amara shared with her Mom and Dad and Grandpa Hamid and Grandma Patty. Amara does well at restaurants these days (enjoys people watching!!) and so we were able to enjoy a nice dinner at Great Maple and a fantastic brunch at Old Mill (the best kept secret in North Park)
And Amara also helped Carol celebrate her 36th birthday with friends! Best friend Kate came down from Los Angeles with her fiance. She had not seen Amara since birth at the hospital and LOVED seeing her and how much she has changed. Brian treated Carol and her friends to a birthday brunch and everyone (including Amara) had a great time!

Weeks 18 &19

Hello again! Little Miss Amara rolled over from her belly to back several times this week. She is getting strong by the day and her dexterity is increasing quickly as well. She loves to grab, touch, and hold things. She enjoys interesting textures and colors. She is having fun these days as well at her new music class for babies!
And in other news, Amara got a fancy new crib (thanks Bappa!) so she know sleeps in a crib (not bassinette). It was definitely time -- she is getting so tall!

Weeks 16 & 17

Amara had her 4 month check up and enjoyed looking at all the babies and hanging out with her cool pediatrician, Dr. Carson. It was a lot of fun up until the immunizations! We found out that Amara is tall for her age -- in the 94% already. She just gets cuter and more playful by the day!
And another fun fact -- Amara "found her feet" recently. She loves to grab them while lying on her back in "happy baby" yoga pose. So cute!!

Weeks 14 & 15

Hello! Did I mention that I (Mama) decided to resign from my job in order to stay home and take care of Amara? Well I did and spending my days with Amara has been wonderful. Although we keep it simple, every day is a new day and Amara masters new skills. These days Amara enjoys "talking" and smiling at people (and laughing if she is tickled right). Amara has been playing with her tongue (sticking it out in an adorable way), playing and looking around on her play mat (thank goodness it is still fun for her). And recently Amara has gotten really into a special butterfly toy that her Auntie Anne gave her. She can hold it and shake it and she tries to put it in her mouth. So cute.
